Statement from Holy Fire Catholic Newsletter on recent violence in Los Angeles, CA, USA, and conflict between Israel and Iran
Family, we at Holy Fire Catholic Newsletter sincerely lament the recent violence in Los Angeles, CA, USA and the conflict between Israel and Iran. The situations and solutions are very complex, but as Catholics we are invited always to pray, as Our Lady told us at Fatima: “…[pray] to obtain the peace of the world….” 1 This invitation extends too to the rest of the Christian family and all people of goodwill.
Many Americans are deeply divided on many issues and the recent clashes of violence remind us of this.
Israel and Iran too represent divisions in the world that are deep and dangerous.
As Catholics and disciples of Christ, we are called to be peacemakers 2 and to beg Heaven for mercy on our troubled and violent world. Our lives of prayer, penance, and evangelization help build up the Kingdom of God, helping implement God’s plan of redemption and restoration: because of the fall of man, our actions, as we see around the world, don’t build up, but destroy. Only through, and following, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” 3 , can we live in a way that bears fruits of “joy, peace, [and] … goodness” 4 .
We renew our call to prayer for peace in our country and in the world, especially today, and if possible, some days over the next weeks. A few suggestions for prayer are the Rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the Litany of the Scared Heart, and prayer to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots.
May God bless us and grant us peace in our country and the world,
–Holy Fire Catholic Newsletter
